Meet Dr Erin Louise Bellamy
About Dr Erin Bellamy
I’m Dr Erin Louise Bellamy, a Metabolic Mental Health practitioner and researcher. I have a PhD in Psychology, specialising in Ketogenic Diets & Depression from the University of East London. I also have an MSc in Psychiatric Research from the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London. I am a Chartered Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and an accredited member of the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners.
Since 2014, I have been working with people across all stages of mental illness and recovery both through in-patient units and remotely online. Since 2017, I have helped hundreds of people use Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy to address a range of physical and mental health issues, including obesity, insulin resistance, food addiction, depression, and bipolar disorder. What do each of these illnesses have in common? I believe they are all metabolic illnesses of the body and brain.
My aim is to help people improve both their mental and physical health. I achieve this by providing education and support to initiate Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy through therapeutic carbohydrate restriction in a way that is simple and can be sustained as a lifestyle. Working with people of all ages and cultures has equipped me with the skills to support individuals on their journey to better health.
My passion lies in understanding how we can use Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy, to support and improve many areas of our health, particularly our mental well-being. For some people, the improvements are like night and day, and for others it is another tool in the toolbox on the road to recovery.
I have seen first-hand, the difficulties and frustrations of those struggling with their mental health, and fortunately, I have witnessed the powerful positive impact Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy can have on both physical and mental well-being. I want everyone who is suffering to have the opportunity to try this approach for themselves, so it is crucial that it is implemented correctly for the best chance of success and sustainability long-term.
I will guide you on this journey and help you navigate the obstacles and challenges you will face along the path to better health. I will work with you and your healthcare team, and I will bring in or refer you to other professionals if you need support beyond what I can offer. Whether you are here to get started with Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy, or you are here seeking support and guidance, I can help. I look forward to working with you,
Erin
Ongoing Research
Founder of IKRT, Dr Erin L Bellamy, has received the inaugural Baszucki Group Metabolic Psychiatry Scholar Award for the project titled, “Implementing Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy for Mental Illness: A Mixed-Methods Pilot Trial of an Online Psychoeducational and Support Program". This will expand on her pre-existing treatment program and support a rigorous evaluation protocol.
About IKRT

Integrative Ketogenic Research & Therapies (IKRT) provides ketogenic metabolic therapy for mental health, grounded in the emerging field of metabolic psychiatry.
Founded by Dr Erin Louise Bellamy, IKRT supports adults with conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and treatment-resistant mental health symptoms to safely implement and sustain ketogenic and metabolic therapies alongside standard psychiatric care. Our programs are delivered remotely, making specialist support accessible to individuals in the UK and internationally.
IKRT focuses on education, personalised macronutrient guidance, metabolic monitoring, and ongoing professional and peer support, addressing the how, not just the theory.
IKRT is designed for people who have tried ketogenic diets before without lasting success, struggled to stay in ketosis, or felt overwhelmed by conflicting information.
Through structured teaching, symptom tracking, ketone monitoring, and community support, clients learn how to apply ketogenic metabolic therapy in a way that supports both brain energy and long-term mental health stability. This is not a quick fix or a one-size-fits-all diet approach. It is a supported metabolic intervention built for real life, complex mental health presentations and sustainable change.
This is online ketogenic metabolic therapy for mental health, without guesswork.
What Makes IKRT Different?
This isn’t a diet. It’s a therapeutic process.
IKRT (Integrative Ketogenic Research & Therapies ) was created to bridge the gap between:
- scientific research
- clinical application
- real human lives
IKRT is different because it:
- focuses on mental health, not weight loss
- integrates metabolic psychiatry research
- prioritises education before implementation
- provides ongoing support and accountability
- offers an international peer community
We don’t hand you a meal plan and leave you to figure it out. Instead, we provide:
- clear education on the science of ketogenic therapy
- structured implementation for mental health outcomes
- ongoing professional and peer support
- a global community who understands what you’re doing and why
Your brain is not broken. It may simply need a different fuel and the right support.
