Who is Dr Erin Louise Bellamy?
Dr Erin Louise Bellamy is a Chartered Psychologist, researcher, and practitioner specialising in metabolic approaches to improving mental health. She is the founder of Integrative Ketogenic Research & Therapies (IKRT), an organisation focused on implementing Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy (KMT), and other metabolic therapies within the emerging field of metabolic psychiatry.
Dr Bellamy completed her PhD in Psychology at the University of East London, where her research focused on ketogenic diets and depression. She also holds an MSc in Psychiatric Research from the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, alongside membership with the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners.
Since 2014, Dr Bellamy has worked with individuals experiencing a broad range of mental health challenges across hospital inpatient and community settings. Since 2017, her work has increasingly focused on helping individuals implement ketogenic and metabolic therapies within the context of mental and physical health care.
Her clinical and research interests include the relationship between metabolism, brain function, inflammation, and psychological wellbeing. Through both one to one work and structured educational programmes, she supports individuals seeking evidence informed approaches to conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, food addiction, binge eating disorder, schizophrenia and broader metabolic health concerns. She is particularly interested in treatment resistant diagnoses.
Dr Bellamy’s approach combines current research, personalised implementation strategies, symptom monitoring, education, and ongoing support. Rather than viewing ketogenic metabolic therapy as a temporary dietary or nutritional intervention, she focuses on helping individuals develop sustainable approaches tailored to their personal goals and clinical needs. Ketogenic metabolic therapy is a therapeutic nutritional intervention to improving mental health outcomes.
Alongside clinical work, Dr Bellamy continues to contribute to the development of metabolic psychiatry research. She was awarded the inaugural Metabolic Psychiatry Scholar Award in 2025 for her project investigating online ketogenic metabolic therapy interventions for mental illness.
Her goal is not simply to provide information, but to help individuals understand and apply metabolic therapies safely, realistically, and with appropriate support.
