The Cholesterol Code Documentary is Here

Exciting news for the low-carb and ketogenic community.

The Cholesterol Code documentary from Dave Feldman and his team is now streaming on Amazon.

The Cholesterol Code

Dave Feldman, a software engineer-turned-scientist, has become well known in the low-carb and ketogenic communities for his work on cholesterol metabolism (for over a decade now). He and his team are among the authorities on understanding cholesterol from a low-carbohydrate and ketogenic perspective.

Over the past few years, Feldman ran a research study looking at 100 individuals with high LDL levels who were following a low-carbohydrate or ketogenic diet, taking on a question many in this community have had to face:

What does elevated LDL actually mean on a low-carb or ketogenic diet?

When following a well formulated low-carb or ketogenic diet, we typically see blood sugar, weight, blood pressure, inflammation, and mental health symptoms improve. So, is having an elevated LDL level still a risk? What about individuals who fall into the "Lean Mass Hyper-Responder" category?

This documentary explores whether LDL alone tells the full story and why the current conversation around risk is not yet settled.

What does this mean in simple terms?

This documentary:

  • Helps us understand why LDL, on its own, is an incomplete marker of cardiovascular risk

  • Highlights the need for more research, particularly in metabolically healthy individuals with elevated LDL on a low-carb or ketogenic diet

  • Informs us of other tests and tools we can access to look directly at the health of the arteries, beyond a simple blood cholesterol test
